About the role

Applications are invited for a qualified candidate for a Plant Operator position. We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and engaged team member to support operations for our Narellan Field Service Centre.

Working as part of the team, your responsibilities would include operating various plant & vehicles including non destructive digging (NDD), deep earth borer, lifter borers, excavators, bobcats and various heavy vehicles to assist in the construction & maintenance of our electrical network. Working normally in conjunction with crews and occasionally in a team of 2 to help deliver programmed works as required. Job tasks are completed in various outdoor environments including roadsides both rural and urban areas.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • HR truck licence 
  • Industry experience operating an NDD
  • Be physically fit and have experience in carrying out general labouring and workshop duties
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a small team environment
  • Proven ability to adapt knowledge and skills to new items of plant
  • Be available to respond to emergencies and after hours work when required
  • Proactive attitude toward improving skills and qualifications so as to provide enhanced value to the company
  • Be open to operating or learning to operate various types of plant or vehicles and be willing to assist crews on the ground

Desirable requirements: 

  • Hold a workcover LF forklift ticket
  • Hold a Workcover EWP ticket
  • Hold a Workcover C2 crane ticket
  • Experience operating a small tipper
  • Hold HC Drivers’ Licence (or be willing to obtain licence)
  • Have a good understanding of safe work practices associated with the installation and replacement of electrical assets 
  • Be authorised and have experience operating Palfinger/Hiab truck mounted cranes
  • Have experience in working on live networks
  • Be authorised and have experience operating a lifter borer and other various items of plant
  • Hold Traffic Control, Traffic Management certificates and Dogman/Crane Chaser ticket
