Position Purpose

You will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient maintenance and breakdown service (including being on a standby roster) to ensure that the company fleet operates in an efficient, safe, reliable and compliant manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • To organise and/or conduct inspection, maintenance & repair (IMR) related activities in a safe, efficient and compliant manner; 
  • Coordinate the work operations to ensure the appropriate parts and equipment are functional and available for vehicle and plant maintenance to meet the customer’s needs; 
  • Arrange and conduct Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) inspections, as required, on the vehicles and trailers within the Depots area, to ensure that they are delivered for inspection and registered on time;  
  • Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate the completion of IMR activities in alignment with scheduled plans and follow up & reporting of items not presented for the scheduled IMR work and assisting stakeholders with interpretation and deployment of the accident and IMR related company policies; 
  • Scheduling, coordinating and accurate recording of IMR activities in consideration of safety, downtime, task specific timeframes and cost, in consideration of workloads, priorities and effective use of external service providers as appropriate. This includes introduction of new fleet files, deletion of old files, processing of invoices & quotations, completion of forms and accurate recording of all IMR activities conducted on the company fleet; 
  • Organising and conducting RMS and safety inspections, in-house or at an authorised RMS inspection station, to ensure that they are registered on time and in a safe manner. 
  • For depots that are an Authorised Inspection Station, the position holder must adhere to all statutory and RMS requirements and ensure the RMS inspection bookwork is completed in a compliant manner; 
  • Maintaining the workplace, tools and equipment in a safe, clean and efficient manner in consideration consistent with Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Protection standards; 
  • Ordering and effectively organising - pick up & delivery, storage, usage and payment of spare parts & consumables for the completion of scheduled and un-scheduled IMR activities in an efficient manner. This includes requisitioning of items from internal stores and external suppliers; 
  • Assisting the Fleet Engineering Officers and the Accident Investigation Officer with compliance, conditional & operational inspections, transportation and review of vehicles & plant related matters at relevant FSC’s and/or locally based external service providers; 
  • Providing support to the Workshop Supervisor in managing the accident administration and IMR related activities.
  • Being on call as part of the standby roster, and flexibility in shift times is essential.

Qualifications, Certifications and Licences

Required Qualifications 

  • Technical- Trade Certificate – Automotive Engineering related 
  • Certificate III 

Licences/Tickets

  • M.V.R.I.C Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council Licence 
  • HV Authorised Examiner Certificate & Safety Check Examiner (Light
  • HR Heavy Rigid Vehicle Licence 
  • C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM) 
  • Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course

Skills and Experience

  • Specialised Professional: Generally 3-10 years experience in a similar/professional role
