About the role

You will be responsible for the effective delivery of respective design service deliverables, produce technical/analytical designs across multiple Transmission/Distribution overhead and underground design disciplines, provide Engineering Officers and Engineering Specialists technical expertise and support concurrently, across multiple disciplines and suggest process improvements by using first principles to reverse-engineer complicated problems to derive commercially sound outcomes as well as with the application of critical / strategic thinking, advanced problem solving, commercial awareness, effective technical understanding, verbal and written communication skills.

In addition, you will also support the business through mentoring leadership, quality control, presentation skills, process management, stakeholder / customer expert technical knowledge and support, conducting investigations and estimations where required including supporting colleagues as directed. 

Key Accountabilities

  •  Drive improvements in safety performance and model the organisation’s commitment to WHS, including the incorporation of safety in design for all design deliverables.
  • Build an environment that motivates individuals, gives all team members a voice, promotes effectiveness and healthy conflict.
  • Produce timely, relevant, meaningful and consistent design service deliverables, including; project definitions; design packets; enquiry and complaint responses for internal and external stakeholders and customers; project & program scoping; technical and analytical assessments; feasibility assessments & reports. 
  • Implement governance over the delivery of design services to ensure that the works are undertaken within the constraints specified by Asset Planning and Performance.
  • Deliver designs that are efficient to construct recognising that the design process directly drives construction costs. 
  • Self-check, peer review and certify (as required) design service deliverables to defined scopes; Statutory Regulations; the organisation’s policies and procedures. 
  • Strive to deliver design services which exceed our customers' expectations. Provide stakeholder and customer support including enquiry and complaint responses, quotes and supervised access to network assets. 
  • Conduct investigations and feasibility studies including modelling, calculations and derivations where required in the area of expertise of the within their respective Design Section.
  • Provide expert technical knowledge and support to Design Engineering Officers, Design Engineering Specialists and trainees to allow them to progress their own skill levels across multiple disciplines within their respective Design Section.
  • Identify barriers to the effective delivery of design services deliverables and propose potential solutions which are in line with the overall vision and direction of the organisation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree - Electrical

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree - Mechanical/Structural/Civil Engineering

Licences/Tickets

  • C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
  • Green Card Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course 

Experience  

  • Specialised Professional: with 3-10 years experience in a similar/professional role within the Construction, Consulting, Energy / Electrical, Professional Services or Utilities industry. 
  • Experience in PLS-CAD/Pole
  • Experience in Sub transmission overhead and underground design.
  • CYMCAP Experience
  • Neara Experience

Desirable

  • Experience in Distribution overhead and underground design. 
  • Experience in PLS-Tower.
