About the role

As the Future Grid Engineer you will support and deliver projects and technology platforms that facilitate the energy transition through our network. This role involves transforming innovative ideas throughout the project lifecycle into actionable solutions and performing various technical and data analytics tasks as needed. As a member of the Future Grid team, you'll be at the forefront of emerging technologies, addressing network needs such as energy storage, electrification, and demand flexibility. You'll play a key role in implementing strategies that optimize network performance for customers. Success in this role requires critical and strategic thinking, a deep technical understanding, advanced problem-solving skills, commercial awareness, and strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Key accountabilities

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Future Grid branch and section strategic goals. 
  • Support the emerging business functions of forecasting, modelling, improved planning and implementation of CER enablement activities.
  • Contribute to the development and demonstration of new technology and innovation activities that support the network and growing functions as a Distribution System Operator. 
  • Support and occasionally lead trials and pilot programs related to the Future Grid workstream, involving regular engagement with internal and external stakeholders (including directly with customers) 
  • Build and maintain an informed knowledge of industry developments and changes in the technology and implementation of DER enablement, non-network solutions and the transformation of the business function towards a Distribution System Operator.
  • Development of processes to support the preparation and automation of annual regulatory reporting requirements including Regulatory Information Notice (RIN) data.
  • Strategic identification and implementation of new analytics capability improvements through the development of scripts, programs and platforms.
  • Develop/review policies, procedures, datasets, business cases and strategies for Future Grid programs and the organisations Regulatory Proposals to continually improve the delivery of an efficient and prudent investment portfolio. 
  • Provide guidance and inform internal stakeholders on Future Grid initiatives.

About you

Specialised professional with demonstrated experience in a similar/professional role within the Consulting, Energy/Electrical or Utilities industries.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Postgraduate management qualifications

Licences / tickets

  • C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
  • Green Card Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course
