In the role of Lab Technician Summer Student, you will be required to staff in the testing and reporting of product quality results in adherence to ASTM standards and Enbridge Book 5 Product Quality & Measurement procedures.
Placement Details:
This is a 4 summer internship placement starting in May 2025, located in Edmonton, AB.
What you will do:
- Follows ASTM/Book 5 procedures for crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquid analysis.
- Ensures open and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Performs work in adherence to Enbridge Environment and Safety standards.
- Organizes, collects and distributes quality samples for 3rd party analysis (QAS, CAPP, H2S, Light Ends Analysis, Organic Chlorides and Organic Phosphorous)
- Maintains accurate and organized records of test results in CSIS – Commodity Sample Information System
- Conducts annual Chemical Inventory and ensures respective SDS sheets are available and current
- Handles shipping/receiving of external sample requests
- Assists the Petroleum Quality Department with product quality investigations.
- Maintains laboratory supplies, calibration and quality standard checks of test equipment and techniques.
- Works out of the Edmonton Terminal.
- Frequently provides support (over the phone) to other locations as well as customer service support.
Who you are:
- You are currently enrolled in a full time post-secondary program studying Chemical Technology and will be returning to school immediately following the work term.
- Effective and professional communication both verbal and written with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to actively and consistently represent Enbridge’s core values (Safety, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion, High Performance).
Working Conditions:
- Field-based role, located in Edmonton, AB
- Laboratory environment.
- Occasional field work (sample collection, operational training)
- High level of organization and attention to detail must be maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
- Infrequent offsite travel for training
- Relocation assistance is not provided.
