About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Gas Accounting Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the financial impacts related to the movement and ownership of customer and company natural gas as it travels through assigned pipelines and storages. You will work closely with various departments to ensure data accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and apply the fundamentals of US GAAP, Reporting Standards, and Financial Controls.
- Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries related to gas processing, storage and pipeline imbalances, fuel inventory, and fuel over/under recovery based on various FERC tracking mechanisms.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly actual/budget/forecast variance analysis on gas processing.
- Prepare pipeline and storage trackers.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations.
- Prepare quarterly and annual FERC Form 3 and Form 2 filings.
- Prepare annual EIA-176 and tracker filings.
- Coordinate and interact with internal and external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and related reporting requirements.
- Provide guidance and assistance to team members during tight reporting deadlines.
- Handle ad hoc assignments as needed.
Scope and Dimensions:
The Gas Accounting Advisor will interact extensively with representatives from various departments, including Capacity Services, Gas Measurement, and Regulatory Affairs. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of data for each pipeline and storage facility, analyzing variances, anticipating trends, and ensuring the accuracy of numerous regulatory filings.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 4+ years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of employees and management.
- Proactive self-starter with strong work ethics and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Broad understanding of Gas Accounting.
- FERC experience.
- CPA certification.
Working Conditions:
This is an office-based position with limited physical activity.
