The Role

Join us at El Questro Homestead, a culinary haven in the heart of the Kimberley. As our Sous Chef, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing kitchen operations, supporting the Head Chef, and mentoring junior staff. This position offers the chance to showcase your leadership skills while delivering exceptional à la carte dishes, breakfast buffets, and bespoke dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including rostering and ordering.
  • Lead by example, mentoring and training kitchen staff.
  • Create high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to deliver seamless dining experiences.

About You

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role.
  • Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking.
  • Strong skills in menu planning, cost management, and stock control.
  • A passion for food and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • A current driver’s license is desirable.

This role may involve extensive manual handling tasks including lifting up to 20kg kneeling and squatting, as well as handling chemicals and utilising machinery.
