The Role

As the Property & Asset manager you will be responsible for the adherence with all legislative, WH&S and compliance requirements as far as the property and staff accommodation is concerned as well as routine, planned, project and preventative maintenance requirements.

This is a busy, hands-on role, supported by a small team, which requires an eye for and attention to detail, professionalism, commitment to team development and training and a dynamic “can do” approach.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the maintenance, grounds and porter teams ensuring the property is immaculately maintained for guests to enjoy.
  • Schedule maintenance activities to ensure minimal inconvenience to guests and team members.
  • Manage a schedule of contractors who are engaged to do skilled works within the property,
  • Coordinate and prioritise maintenance activities for guest rooms and public areas, ensuring a prompt turn around time with quality workmanship.
  • Work within a labour and repairs and maintenance budget.
  • Develop and coach the team to ensure an engaged and positive team culture
  • Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and team members.
  • Complete installations and carry out inspections of maintenance to property buildings.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out replacement of and repairs to building fixtures and fittings.
  • Work a flexible roster over 7 days including including afterhours on call.

As this opportunity is ongoing, to be considered for the position your working rights at one location must extend to a period beyond 6 months.

What we're looking for

  • Trade qualification desirable but not essential (carpentry, electrician, plumber, mechanic, etc).  
  • Experience working within a similar role in a maintenance or handyperson capacity 
  • Strong customer-centric approach to business with a willingness to work shifts across a seven day roster
  • Strong team leadership experience, with demonstrated abilities to coach others to improve performance 
  • Physically capable of undertaking the manual labour demands of the role 
  • High level of physical fitness, health and strength 
  • Flexibility to work across a 7 day roster including on call shifts
  • Current Drivers’ license essential
