About the role

The Facilities and Security Manager will oversee the facilities management of DEWC’s Adelaide and Canberra Offices and ensure compliance with the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) requirements.  

More Specifically, the role will:

  • Ensure that all facilities are maintained to a high standard, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, tag & test, and general maintenance.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs and schedules to avoid downtime and maximise the lifespan of company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety and environmental regulations, and manage workplace safety protocols, and handling emergency preparedness.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with legal and industry standards.
  • Manage operational budgets and resources, optimise processes to reduce costs, and support strategic goals through effective allocation of space, equipment and services.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors including negotiating Service Agreements, quotes, and contracts, and ensure compliance with organisational standards and legal requirements.
  • Manage AGSVA security clearance vetting for individuals, including new applications, existing clearances, DCAC applications, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, guidelines, and legislation.
  • Manage access control systems, visitor management, and contractor compliance, ensuring secure handling of sensitive information and equipment.
  • Ensure sensitive information is handled and protected in line with security protocols and government policies, using secure systems for managing clearance information.
  • Ensure vetting processes align with AGSVA standards, conduct risk assessments, provide mitigation strategies and maintain compliance with government policies.
  • Lead and supervise facilities and administrative staff, providing training, performance evaluations, and professional development.

About You

  • Proven experience in facilities management and security operations, ideally within the Defence or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of Australian Defence security regulations, including the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP), Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and other Defence-specific security protocols and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in managing physical office spaces and coordinating maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating with external vendors and contractors.
  • Experience and / or interest in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
  • Current or reinstatable Australian Defence security clearance (minimum NV1 level).
