Headquartered in Adelaide, Detmold Medical specialises in packaging, medical and disposable items for the Australian health industry. About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will provide commercial and accounting support to the Detmold Medical business to support decision making and drive business improvements. You will identify, analyse, manage and make recommendations to optimise the drivers which deliver the efficiencies to our manufacturing operations. You will provide strategic recommendations to drive sustainable sales growth and profitability, while optimising working capital and minimising risk.

Critical to your success will be the ability to work confidently and respectfully with senior stakeholders to achieve business outcomes.

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

Support the coordination and performance of the Detmold Medical’s annual financial reporting compliance program.

The accurate completion, prudent commercial analysis and timely delivery of all monthly financial reporting.

Manage and coordinate the budgeting process for the business.

  • Prepare and analyse factory variance reporting.
  • Assist Production management in interpretation and analysis of factory costs.
  • Collaborate with National Sales Manager on pricing/cost analysis during the tender process within the business as required.
  • Review PPV and investigate variances to our standard landed costs.
  • Raw material and WIP reporting (Including aging.)
  • Analysing cost to serve, at macro and micro levels, highlighting deviations to budget and identifying cost effective alternatives.
  • Effectively managing and successfully executing:
  • internal cost rolls
  • cost and price reviews of customer base in conjunction with National Sales Manager
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Supplier invoice coding and appropriate authorisation.

About you

What you’ll need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or similar.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively and positively with personnel at all levels in the organisation.
  • Problem-solving ability and an analytical approach.
  • Strong personal accountability for driving and delivering on targets and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • While not essential, commercial accounting experience gained in FMCG, manufacturing or a similar environment would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience using Excel at an advanced level
