About the opportunity

As part of recent success and planned growth in the fresh produce category, a new opportunity has been created in the B2B arm of Detpak, part of the global Detmold Group – global innovator of sustainable paper and board packaging solutions.

We invite applications from experienced and commercially astute Business Development Managers to join our award-winning team and contribute to our ongoing success as new product innovators.

Working remotely, you will ideally be based in Sydney or Melbourne, (Brisbane will be considered) and report to the Regional Sales Manager Industrial – Australasia. 

The fresh produce category is our largest growth area, and you’ll capitalise on current success by collaborating with the fresh produce category managers in large retailers, developing, consolidating and strengthening relationships to convert opportunities. 

Your key focus will be on identifying and pursuing new opportunities for us to sell our range and develop new products to satisfy the needs of our customer base.

The ability to understand and interpret needs, combined with your business savvy and creative thinking, will see you develop solutions to satisfy your customers’ requirements.  

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Drive growth within the fresh produce category nationally to exceed new business and profit targets.
  • Identify, qualify and sell to relevant customers, growers and prospects, focusing on consistent product/market applications.
  • Develop, leverage and manage the relationships with Category Managers within the large retail chains.
  • Work collaboratively with the Grocery & Convenience team to ensure transparency of all retail interactions.

About you 

What you’ll need:

  • Significant experience in B2B sales in an industrial environment eg FMCG, manufacturing, agriculture or similar.
  • A mechanical aptitude and an understanding of end-to-end production, filling/production lines. 
  • Proven success in identifying and converting new business opportunities. 
  • A proactive approach and the ability to think outside of the box.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships and networks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high abstract reasoning.
  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a cohesive and high performing team. 
  • A current, unrestricted driver’s license

Regular travel will be required.
