Sample Maker / Designer

About the opportunity:

At LaunchPad, Detmold Group’s design hub, we drive innovation in packaging through concept creation and rapid prototyping. 

We’re a dedicated team of graphic and industrial designers with capabilities in designing and developing concepts and rapid prototypes in packaging for our customers. 

We have opportunities for individuals looking to build a career in product and design while completing their studies to join our Product & Brand Design team at LaunchPad as Sample Makers/Designers. 

Based in Brompton, SA and reporting to the Design Manager, you will support the production of prototypes developed by the design team for our customers. 

This is for someone who enjoys being hands-on creative and can translate visual designs into physical form.

We are a team of creative, dedicated, supportive and fun-loving professionals who support each other and celebrate collective success.

You will receive training and mentorship from experienced designers who will support your learning and development.

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

• Produce paper and board packaging protypes for customers
• Create and refine 2D and 3D CAD files
• Operate various equipment, including Kongsberg cutting table and 3D printers to create prototypes
• Support the development of new designs and modify existing ones according to specifications.
• Manage and document tasks related to dispatching prototype samples. 

About you

You’ll need:

• A mechanical aptitude to create 3D models from 2D concepts.
• Internal stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to think outside of the box.
• Resilience and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive and high performing team. 

You must be studying a degree qualification in industrial/product design or a related discipline.
