About the opportunity

We invite applications from experienced and strategic Business Development Managers to join Detpak Grocery and Convenience team part of the Detmold Group – a global innovator of sustainable paper and board packaging solutions.

Based in Sydney or Melbourne and reporting to the National Sales Manager, your primary focus will be on customer retention, identifying and pursuing new customers, driving growth, and building relationships and opportunities within the Petrol & Convenience (P&C) channel nationally.

This role is offered as a remote working arrangement with access to an office in Sydney or Melbourne as required.

To succeed, you'll need drive, resilience and a passion to pursue new business, along with strong motivation to exceed targets and satisfaction in closing sales.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone driven to achieve sustainable, profitable growth within the Petrol & Convenience (P&C) sector by increasing packaging spend share.

As part of a cohesive, high-performing, and geographically dispersed team, you’ll receive support, care, and ongoing development to ensure your success.

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Achieve sales budgets, new business & retained sales targets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and convert new businesses opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with key customer contacts.
  • Provide our customers with innovative packaging solutions
  • Collaborate with the Products and Brand Team to implement business development and productivity initiatives across all independent supermarket customers.
  • Plan and strategies to execute sales activity to drive increased penetration of product and/or services into Petrol & Convenience (P&C) channel.
  • Analyse Petrol & Convenience(P&C) market performance and trends to uncover growth opportunities and improve operational efficiency

About you 

 What you’ll need:

  • Experience in a similar role ideally in the Petrol & Convenience (P&C), FMCG, Foodservice or packaging industries.
  • Strong understanding of the Petrol & Convenience (P&C) sector and brands across all operational levels
  • Passion & commitment to identify and “hunt” for new business
  • Proven track record in supporting tenders and negotiations.
  • Solid commercial acumen with an understanding of commercial objectives and P&L impacts.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships and networks.
  • A current, unrestricted driver’s license.

You will be required to travel as needed.
