About the role: 

This role of Communications Coordinator with Dairy Australia, will lead the communications activities for the South Australian & Western Australian regions, contributing to the effective delivery of regionally relevant information to support a profitable, sustainable dairy industry. These communications play an important role in engaging farmers, service providers, project partners and supporting organisations with our programs and resources, building knowledge and capability within the industry. 

This is an initial six-month Parental Leave position, which may be extended. Ideally, you will be based in either SA or WA (but we will consider candidates from other regions). 

The key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to): 

  • Provide farmers with accessible, timely and relevant information to increase knowledge and skills, and support their business decision-making. 
  • Develop local content that engages farmers and drives awareness of our services, people and resources. 
  • Lead communications and content plans for regions ensuring alignment with local priorities and Dairy Australia’s national farmer communications strategy. 
  • Source, write, edit and manage the review, approvals and delivery of high-quality communication materials to support organisational activities. 

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate: 

  • Experience writing and editing copy for a range of media and tailoring writing style for different audiences. 
  • The ability to proactively source relevant information, contextualise and define key messages that are relevant, timely and meet target audience needs. 
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within regions and our Melbourne office Marketing & Communications (M&C) team leveraging expertise. 
  • Excellent organisational, project and time management skills. 
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders. 
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of the dairy industry, agriculture or related industries 
  • Qualifications in communications, journalism, media, marketing or related discipline preferred. 
  • Ability to travel for farm visits and industry events to conduct in-person interviews and gather content.
