About the role
The primary purpose of the role is to develop, implement, and oversee project control and quality management systems, drive business improvements, and support project teams for successful delivery.
Key areas will include:
Systems and Procedures
- Develop, improve, and implement Commercial and Project Control Systems across the project;
- Oversee project reporting, leveraging internal software and enhancing processes;
- Manage Primavera P6 for planning and scheduling, ensuring system improvements;
- Oversee Civil Pro for quality management, driving process enhancements;
- Develop and implement a Document & Change Management System, optimising software functionality.
Project Award / Start-up prior to Establishment
- Develop and refine Project Control Systems to support project monitoring and client requirements;
- Set up projects in internal software, including phase codes, budget tracking, forecasting, and risk analysis;
- Manage Primavera P6, ensuring accurate construction programs, revenue cashflow tracking, and resource-loaded schedules;
- Oversee Civil Pro setup, ensuring correct revenue scheduling, quantity tracking, and payment claim integration.
Ongoing Project Support
- Support project staff in cost control, quantity tracking, and cash flow monitoring;
- Assist in analysing cost variances, identifying causes, and proposing mitigation plans;
- Provide guidance on commercial matters, including earned value, budgeting, and reporting;
- Assist with contract setup, management, and closeout for suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants;
- Support project teams in handling client contracts and commercial issues.
Monthly Project Reviews
- Improve monthly reporting processes for billing, change control, forecasting, and costs;
- Ensure accurate and timely Project Progress Reports for the project;
- Assist in reviewing Project Progress Reports for accuracy and insights;
- Track and ensure completion of actions from Monthly Project Reviews.
Quarterly Project Reviews
- Schedule the Quarterly Project Report;
- Ensure the Quarterly Project Report is accurately produced in a timely manner;
- Assist with the Review of the Quarterly Project Report;
- Document and ensure the actions from the Quarterly Project Report Review are issued and completed in a timely manner.
Project Audit Review
- Undertake detailed Project Audit Reviews and ensure full implementation of the CMC Policies, Procedures and Project Specific Management Plans and Procedures and Procurement best practices are implemented on the project;
- Document and ensure the actions from the Project Audit Reviews are issued and completed in a timely manner.
Project & Commercial Support:
- Consolidate Project Progress Reports into an Operations Report;
- Manage Revenue Cashflow across the Contract;
- Provide Commercial, Contractual, and Risk Management support.
Quality Assurance (QA) Management:
- Represent CMC on QA issues, advising and supporting project staff;
- Develop and implement the Project Quality Plan and management plans;
- Oversee inspection and test plans to meet specifications;
- Ensure timely planning and systematic release of hold points;
- Resolve daily quality issues with project engineering staff;
- Manage QA documentation, including NCRs, RFIs, and claimable quantities;
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with repeatable NCRs;
- Organise and participate in audits to maintain accreditation;
- Maintain and improve the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS);
- Coordinate internal audits, document control, and IMS updates;
- Manage records, compile quality reports, and oversee quality audits.
Training and Inductions
- Assist HR with onboarding, ensuring new staff are briefed on company policies and procedures;
- Keep existing staff updated on new or revised policies and systems;
- Develop and manage a Training Matrix, ensuring staff are trained on Viewpoint, Primavera, and Civil Pro;
- Coordinate and conduct staff training as needed.
About you
Preference may be given to applicants who have completed or partially completed a formal qualification in a relevant discipline but relevant experience in civil construction is essential.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Strong practical working knowledge of industry best practice in project controls and ISO9001 practices;
- Sound working knowledge of EDMS, Primavera P6 and Civil Pro software packages;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide high level advice and direction;
- Proven people management and leadership skills, which contributed towards harmonious and productive working environments;
- The ability to provide, in a timely manner, accurate reporting, solutions and information with respect to complex construction projects, as well as identify monitor and remedy trends which may impact upon the performance of the business;
- Well‐developed research, analytical and predictive skills with respect to administrative and financial functions;
- Proven skills in the development and implementation of policies and procedures;
- The ability to prepare monthly financial reports and annual budgets and monitoring performance.
