The opportunity
The Strategic Performance and Planning Lead is a key member of the Business Planning and Performance (BP&P) team.
The BP&P Team has specific responsibility to develop and improve CHW’s long-term, whole-of-organisation strategy including the facilitation of the reporting and monitoring on overall performance against objectives of CHW’s More than Water – 2040 Strategy’ (2040 Strategy).
In close collaboration with staff, the BP&P Team guides the development of the long-term direction for CHW and encompasses the development of the five yearly Essential Services Commission Pricing Submission and the annual Corporate Plan as required by the Minister for Water to ensure clear alignment to the 2040 Strategy.
Core objectives of the Strategic Performance and Planning Lead over the next 24 months is to:
- Contribute to the successful establishment of an organizational Strategic Planning Framework (SPF) including continually advancing, integrating, and monitoring CHW’s 2040 Strategy, Corporate Plan, and other organizational wide documents to enable CHW to be pro-actively positioned for future risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to the successful establishment of an organisational Project Management Framework (PMF) including program and project management methodology, business case templates, budget and costing best practice processes, governance practices and levels, risk management, and reporting.
- Undertake significant organisational wide projects, such as the ESC Pricing Submission, on behalf of the BP&P team aligned with the PMF.
- At an organisational level, provide guidance to divisional program teams, and other internal stakeholders in the development and delivery of key project templates and artefacts to provide divisional level project and program capability uplift as a standardised practice, in the context of delivering organisational projects such as the 2040 Strategy, Corporate Plan, and ESC Pricing Review Submission.
- Undertake comprehensive analysis of critical performance metrics and data, extracting insights to inform strategic decision making and drive a culture of evidence-based action and improvement.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Post graduate qualifications business, science, environment, engineering, or related field with a project management component is preferred.
- Corporate project management experience covering project aspects including knowledge of project governance structures, stakeholder management structures and techniques, budgeting, change controls and funding agreements.
- Skilled storyteller with proven ability to engage staff to align their work to the strategic objectives and uplifting business capability to create value for the business and our customers.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) to be able to construct complex, corporate reporting and briefing documents that are clear, inspiring and satisfy intersecting compliance requirements.
