The Role:

An exciting and career defining opportunity to be part of the CDC team at Dural Depot as an Operations Supervisor has opened up and CDC welcomes the applications of all who are willing to start or make a change in their career by joining one of the largest providers of public transport in Australia.

The Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the efficient and effective delivery of bus services, ensuring that staff and buses are properly allocated to meet the standards and requirements of both government and commercial contracts.


Key Performance Requirements and Duties:

  • Manage and allocate shift rosters, buses, and drivers for regular services, rail replacements, and charters, ensuring proper fatigue management and accurate payroll processing.
  • Ensure service delivery meets CDC’s contractual KPIs and monitor On-Time-Running (OTR) of the bus fleet using PTIPS and up-to-date driver information to maintain KPI compliance with TfNSW.
  • Oversee yard staff in fueling buses, maintaining records, and monitoring fuel deliveries to ensure the depot has adequate fuel supplies.
  • Ensure timely attendance and appropriate dress for drivers.
  • Adjust allocations in response to accidents, absenteeism, and bus availability, updating the system accurately.
  • Investigate accidents, monitor staff performance, and liaise with mechanical staff regarding fleet breakdowns and faults on the road.
  • Ensure drivers adhere to Traffic Management Plans.
  • Respond to requests from OCC regarding drivers and buses during incidents.
  • Secure and store CCTV footage after accidents/incidents.
  • Coordinate with the Depot/Service Delivery Manager and collaborate with other sites to implement best practices.
  • Identify and resolve issues communicated by drivers over the radio.
  • Report bus defects or mechanical issues through the kiosk.
  • Complete shift reports promptly.
  • Optimize overtime usage for maximum resource and asset return.
  • Assist with lost property record-keeping and customer inquiries, especially outside office hours.
  • Review contract cleaning standards and invoicing.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards/incidents.
  • Perform other duties as required.



Knowledge Specifications:

  • Working with Children Check
  • Knowledge of the bus industry or an equivalent industry would be preferred
  • Qualifications in the following would be highly regarded;

Bus Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS)

Certificate of Transport Management (CTM)

Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence

Public Passenger Driver Authority


Experience Specifications: 

  • Previous experience in leading employees and managing and optimising resources
  • Capable of being able to understand how the delivery of services impacts on contractual KPIs
  • Capable of interpreting company policies and procedures and reports
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst delivering on agreed timelines
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with PC applications, particularly in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
