Exciting opportunity for a Trade Assistant to join the CDC NSW team in St Marys

About the Role:

CDC NSW is looking for a dynamic, passionate and self-motivated Trade Assistant to join our St Marys depot.

This is an ongoing full-time opportunity, reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, to provide support to our team in the workshop.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist qualified mechanics with the servicing, maintenance, and repair of heavy vehicles, including trucks, buses, and trailers.
  • Handle basic workshop tasks such as cleaning parts, organizing tools, and preparing vehicles for service.
  • Perform minor repairs under the guidance of experienced mechanics.
  • Assist in the diagnosis of mechanical issues and provide support during more complex repairs.
  • Ensure the workshop is clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and inventory as needed.

About You:

  • A positive and motivated team player with exceptional internal and external stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Detail oriented with attention to accuracy
  • Well organised, able to prioritise effectively and manage projects to agreed timelines despite conflicting priorities
  • Prior experience in a workshop or similar environment (experience with heavy vehicles is a plus but not essential).
  • Strong interest in mechanical work and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and workshop equipment.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude.
  • Current driver’s license (HR license preferred but not essential).
  • Willingness to undergo training and develop skills in heavy vehicle mechanics

 Qualification and accreditations:

  • Advance level Microsoft Office skills
