The Role:

This full-time position based at our Seven Hills Depot will suit a Panel Beater who has the ability to maintain and repair our bus fleet to ensure we can continue connecting people and places safely. The Panel Beater is responsible for assessing, repairing, and replacing damaged vehicle panels to restore vehicles to their original condition. This role involves a high level of skill in metalwork, welding, and attention to detail to ensure repairs meet industry standards and customer satisfaction.

Damage Assessment:

  • Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of damage and identify parts that need repair or replacement.
  • Estimate the time and materials required for repairs.

Panel Repair and Replacement:

  • Remove damaged panels and parts using appropriate tools.
  • Repair or replace damaged panels, including welding, sanding, filling, and finishing surfaces.
  • Align and fit panels and parts to ensure a seamless finish.

Metalwork and Fabrication:

  • Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and smooth metal surfaces.
  • Fabricate new parts if necessary, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.

Painting and Finishing:

  • Prepare repaired areas for painting by sanding, masking, and applying primer.
  • Work closely with the painting team to ensure a high-quality finish.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of completed repairs to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Test drive vehicles to check for proper alignment and functionality.

Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.

About you:

  • Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle structure and bodywork.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Heavy vehicle experience
  • MR or HR driver's licence or willingness to obtain
  • The ability to adhere to regulation guidelines
  • The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
