The Role:

Reporting to the Depot Manager this role is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the bus services that are delivered out of our Thornton depot. This role will ensure the safe, efficient and effective delivery of our services by managing staff performance and rosters. You will work to ensure that our fleet is maintained to the highest standard to fulfill our exceptional safety standards, commitment to our customers and our contract requirements. 

This is a permanent full-time opportunity that requires some flexibility around the times.

About You:

The successful candidate will have a valid MR or HR licence and meet below requirements:

  • Ensure that Safety comes first in all areas of operations.
  • Monitor and maintain shift rosters and ensure drivers and buses are allocated prior to the commencement of shifts.
  • Ensure that services are delivered in a manner that allows CDC to meet its contractual KPIs
  • Allocate buses and drivers to cover rail replacement and charter bookings ensuring correct management of fatigue and payroll processing.
  • Investigate Accidents/incidents by reviewing CCTV and other sources of factual information pertaining to the investigation.
  • Monitoring the performance to ensure staff are performing to expected standards and providing support where needed to ensure performance standards are achieved
  • Ensure all defects and/or mechanical issues with buses are reported on-time.
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests from OCC regarding provision of drivers and buses relating to incidents.
  • Complete shift reports (including log sheets keyed into system) in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with the Depot Manager, or equivalent, about issues of the day and collaborate with counterparts at other sites to drive best practice across sites.

 About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in leading, managing, shift allocating and optimising resources.
  • Capable of being able to understand how the delivery of services impacts on contractual KPIs.
  • Capable of interpreting company policies and procedures and reports.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading teams whilst creating a positive working culture that fosters and encourages the development of their team
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst delivering on agreed timelines.
  • Experience in using computer systems to manage shifts and rosters.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
