About the role

The Health, Safety, Environment & Quality team is looking for a dynamic, passionate and self-motivated HSEQ Specialist to join their team at the Seven Hills depot.

This role will be responsible for setting the internal standards for safety, quality and the environment, provide advice, coaching and guidance to leaders, employees and HSRs, to ensure the standards are implemented effectively and adhered to by applying an assurance and governance approach to managing risk and to develop and implement strategies to continuously improve the organisation’s safety, environment and quality performance and culture.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the HSEQ strategy to reduce incidents and accidents
  • Responsible for providing advice, guidance, review, update and integration of the Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Asset Management system into the one documented company wide Management System aligned with the various ISO standards CDC NSW is certified to.
  • Participate and assist external bodies with external audits, eg, BOAS, ISO, TfNSW, SafeWork, EPA, etc (Liaise with and manage external providers to assist with safety, quality and environment compliance)
  • Develop and lead projects to meet the objectives of the HSEQ strategy
  • Reporting on the performance of the business against the HSEQ strategy
  • Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders across the organisation to help identify improvement opportunities using Quality & statistical techniques and implement strategies to achieve best practice and manage risk
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to leaders at all levels, HSRs, safety committee members and return to work coordinators
  • Conduct risk based internal & supplier management system audits and assist with the implementation of actions to meet compliance requirements in safety, quality, and environment standards
  • Facilitate/lead serious incident investigations and risk assessments
  • Develop and deliver training
  • Provide reports and analysis of data to safety committees, prepare Agendas, and assist with Minute taking for the Safety Steering Committee
  • Receive, evaluate and disseminate WHS information across the business
  • Develop & document Health, Safety, Environment & Quality policies, management plans, procedures and tools working with the CDC National and business units
  • Reporting hazards and incidents

 

 To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary or Cert IV Workplace Safety Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in managing HSE in a similar environment to public transport or logistic sectors
  • Current driver’s licence and it’s willing to travel to multi-sites of CDC (inner Sydney, West)
  • Demonstrated experience in deploying health and safety strategies, plans, and policies to ensure efficient service delivery with a focus on quality and risk management.
  • Demonstrated strong technical and specialist expertise in health and safety management, along with the ability to assess complex health and safety issues, consider options, risks, benefits, and mitigation strategies, and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas and relate to a range of audiences.
  • The ability to influence all stakeholders from senior management to the shop floor.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and present information in a meaningful manner
