Your role

Catch’s transportation encompasses all of the operations that deliver shipments from our fulfilment centres to our customers and linehaul between facilities.

The Freight Transformation Manager will drive both the domestic and international strategy for transport ensuring that there is a collaborative and supportive relationship with key stakeholders internally and suppliers externally. This role will drive the Delivered by Catch (DBC) program and be responsible for driving the financial results (revenue and cost targets), product development, customer sales and pipeline activity, the operational in-sourced last mile and shuttle operational network activity. 


What you’ll be doing

What does a normal day in the life of a Freight Transformation Manager look like? Well, no two days are alike at Catch, but you could probably expect your day to include some of the following things:

  • Support the design and implementation of the transport supply chain strategy (both domestically and internationally) 
  • Design and implement the Delivered by Catch (DBC) project of work. 
  • Develop the analysis required for convincing cases for change, including Business Cases, strategic projects and operational initiatives.
  • Daily operational management of Transport Carriers against their KPIs, including management of Catch in-sourced last mile model (Go People).
  • Regularly analyse transport data to find opportunities to reduce costs at lane levels by carrier and destinations
  • Work with Senior Operations Manager of the FC to understand the impact on transport on the efficiency of the FC and identify opportunities to reduce costs 
  • Support contract management and contract compliance for existing and new routes/carrier 
  • Meet annual budget targets for cost per unit for transport operations 
  • Execute performance management metrics reviews (cost, speed, quality, etc.) for outbound transportation and derive improvement plans 
  • Maintain and improve communication, process and Fulfilment Centre/carrier interface 
  • Holiday and peak season planning and execution with transport carriers to maintain Customer delivery standards 
  • Manage the outbound transportation with focus on network and service expansion. 
  • Support any market research, Request for Information, Request for Quotation process to source new carriers where the existing carrier pool is insufficient/poor performing.

 

The skills you'll have

  • Bachelor’s degree in in a business or analytical field (Engineering, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain) or another related field
  • 6+ years logistics and/or freight analysis in E-commerce pure play, or Omni-channel Retail with a heavy online focus, or E-commerce focussed 3PL.
  • Experience in making recommendations and decisions based on complex analyses.
  • Experience in independently delivering short- and long-term projects.
  • Excellent skills in use of data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, SQL.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate the pros and cons of proposed analysis methodologies convincingly with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Financial and freight operational performance analysis skills.
  • Understanding of data flows across the end-to-end Retail supply chain.
  • Capacity management / forecasting skills.
  • Ability to be able to identify the key messages resulting from detailed analysis and contribute to building the “story” for convincing cases for change.
  • Handle multiple priorities and take independent decisions.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
