Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.
As the Young Carer Support Worker, you will be responsible for working proactively with young carers and local services in providing support to young carers to access the Carer Gateway services. This role, will be required to connect with services such as schools, youth agencies, training organisations and other service providers to create awareness of young carers and the services of the Carer Gateway. The role will be required to travel across the New England region, with some overnight stays.
This is a full time or part time (4 days) contract position until 30 June 2024.
Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:
- Qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Youth Work, Community Services or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in working with young people, service providers and community organisations
- Knowledge of the community care, health and disability service systems and other programs relevant to young carers
- Demonstrated experience in community outreach work
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated experience in liaising and negotiating with service providers
- Understanding of intake, assessment and referral processes provided as part of a telephone information, support and planning process
- Strong understanding of Mandatory reporting and privacy requirements
- Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.
- Current NSW drivers licence and the capacity to travel across the New England region

Salary and Benefits
