Camp Manyung, located on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, are seeking a Catering Coordinator/Chef to join their dynamic team!

About Camp Manyung

Camp Manyung is a recreation camp located in Mt Eliza on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Camp Manyung run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from snorkeling and kayaking to archery and raft building. Featuring a state-of-the-art recreation center, flexible and accessible accommodation and picturesque outdoor areas, Camp Manyung is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors.

About the Role

As the Catering Coordinator, you will lead the catering team to ensure all campers receive delicious meals during their stay. You will be responsible for ensuring that all kitchen staff are well supported, trained and coached through their day-to-day duties.

You will undertake duties required to ensure all camp catering functions are carried out effectively and efficiently. This position is a leadership position, and is a hands-on role. You will have the responsibility for supervising, directing and training catering staff as well as working directly in the kitchen for food preparation and service.

The Catering Coordinator is responsible for providing great customer service to our guests, overseeing the delivery of fresh, healthy and tasty meals and the coordination and management of Special Diets. Additionally great care must be taken to ensure food hygiene is an absolute priority including; robust systems, regulated cleaning, strong practices for allergy management and setting high standards for kitchen staff.

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and providing food for campers, including the coordination of special diets
  • Applying best practice as outlined in the camp’s food safety program
  • Undertake general cooking duties, including baking and pastry cooking
  • Ensuring sufficient staff are rostered to meet the needs of the groups on site
  • Assisting in the training, coordination and supervision of employees
  • Upholding the values of the YMCA at all times

This is a full time role with an hourly rate that ranges from $30 to $40 based on skills, qualifications and experience.

About You

You are a chef who possesses strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which will allow you to build strong and positive relationships with campers, colleagues and other stakeholders. You will be well-organised, committed to excellent customer service and have the ability to apply best practice as outlined in the camp’s Food Safety Program and to ensure compliance with local government requirements and YMCA policies and procedures.

You have experience in leading, coaching and training a dynamic team, including experience in managing staff performance issues. You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook and good computer literacy.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in commercial catering or suitable experience
  • Food Safety Supervisors certification SITSS00069
  • Provide First Aid Certificate HLTAID001
  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID009
