About Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Camp, Falls Creek Cross Country & Windy Corner Café

Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Camp is a remote alpine centre and adventure camp located by Falls Creek, and managed by Y Discovery Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Howmans Gap run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from skiing and tobogganing in winter, to orienteering and mountain biking in summer. Featuring state-of-the-art accessible accommodation, cozy cottages, and full catering options, Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Camp is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors, come snow or sunshine.

Falls Creek Cross Country (FCXC) is a ski centre with everything you need to hit the cross country trails. This service is managed by the Y Victoria and is based within the Windy Corner Day Shelter, next to the Windy Corner Café. FCXC is your one-stop-shop for rentals, lessons, repairs, retail and trail information.

Falls Creek is the premier destination for cross country skiing in Victoria and with 65km of groomed cross country trails it is one of the biggest cross-country areas in Australia. This vast trail net provides plenty of suitable options for complete beginner cross country skiers through to advanced.

About the Role

Working across Howmans Gap, Falls Creek and Windy Corner (within ten minutes of each other) over the course of the 2025 winter season, you will ensure the campsite/facility is cleaned to an exceptionally high standard, working within the camps cleaning schedule. All areas of the campsite are cleaned regularly and may include accommodation, ablution blocks, toilets and other facilities. In this role, you will:

• Undertake cleaning duties using specialised equipment and chemicals
• Receive, store and distribute cleaning goods
• Record any maintenance requirements and report major issues to management
• Undertake routine repair work and other general duties such as gardening as required

This is a casual role, with an hourly rate of between $30.72 p/hour (incl. casual loading). The 2025 Howmans Gap winter season for 2025 is anticipated to begin 9 June and conclude 12 September - subject to change based on weather.

About You

You are a motivated individual with a commitment to perform to their best. You possess problem-solving skills and can apply initiative to work unsupervised, if required. Previous catering or hospitality experience, and knowledge and understanding of kitchen operations will be highly regarded.
