About the Position

The General Manager of Construction and Maintenance Services is entrusted with the strategic and operational oversight of Council’s Construction Branch. This executive role requires the highest standards of professionalism and efficiency, ensuring that all branch activities and operations are executed to deliver Council programs that align with the expectations of a diverse range of stakeholders.

Construction consistently delivers high-quality, value-for-money infrastructure with a focus on long-term outcomes. Leveraging our deep expertise in project services and maintenance services, we advocate for the best solutions to meet the needs of Brisbane’s ratepayers and residents. Our services encompass infrastructure, stormwater drainage, bridge maintenance, transport network technologies, trades and land remediation.

As a forward-thinking executive, you will bring a proven track record in process improvement and driving efficiencies. You excel at sharpening and enhancing performance, leading transformative business changes, and fostering operational efficiency. Your strong commercial acumen enables you to deliver measurable improvements in performance and efficiency through effective leadership. A strategic leader, you will work collaboratively across all Council portfolios to achieve the best possible community outcomes, driving collective success and ensuring alignment with our organisational goals. Executives will specifically focus on delivering initiatives that promote an agile organisation, effectively directing resources to key priorities, including frontline services.

To be considered, you must have the following:

  • proven leadership in large-scale civil construction, maintenance, and service business.
  • proven track record in process improvement and driving efficiencies
  • experience leading transformative business changes
  • experience in program planning, progress monitoring, and corrective action
  • expertise in governance, risk management, quality assurance, and cost control
  • experience in promoting zero harm and ensuring safety and environmental compliance
  • experience in developing business plans and overseeing projects to meet budget, timeline, and quality standards
  • proven leadership in building high-performance teams and managing workforce planning.
