Salary Range: TRDC7 ($1,590.20 per week + superannuation) (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Positions: 2 positions available (permanent and temporary up to 12 months)

Locations: Eagle Farm (permanent position) and Wacol (temporary position up to 12 months; extension’s thereafter but not guaranteed)

Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.​

Our Branch

At fleet solutions, we provide full lifecycle management of fleet assets, helping Council to deliver services to the city of Brisbane.

Our fleet includes a large range of assets including but not limited to: cars, trucks, trailers, mobile lunchrooms, boats, excavators, road sweepers, forklifts, buggy's, pumps, generators, chainsaws, blowers, whipper snippers and mowers.

The Role

Join our team as a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of vehicles, plant, and equipment. Your role will ensure customer satisfaction, optimise fleet utilisation, and deliver cost-effective, high-quality work.

Key responsibilities:

  • demonstrate customer-focused behaviour, treating all stakeholders with honesty, fairness, sensitivity, and dignity.
  • conduct repair, maintenance, and servicing to meet or exceed legislative standards.
  • complete tasks within estimated timeframes to achieve turnaround times and stay within quoted costs.
  • maintain clean and efficient work areas to uphold high operational standards.
  • contribute to Zero Harm workplace safety practices, fostering continuous improvement.
  • assist in training apprentices on effective work and safety procedures.
  • collaborate within the workplace team, communicating effectively to ensure safe and efficient job execution.
  • detail requisitions for parts and materials accurately and handle necessary administrative duties.
  • prioritise and schedule tasks effectively, including performing non-trade duties as required.
  • liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery

To be successful, you will need:

  • ability to contribute to team direction, provide and receive feedback, and achieve performance excellence.
  • relevant work experience in light and heavy commercial vehicles, plant, and road construction equipment.
  • autonomy in work and teamwork skills, including mentoring apprentices.
  • strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service and administrative tasks.
  • proven problem-solving skills in mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance programs.
  • experience with tablets and basic computer literacy.
  • hold an Australian C class licence for a minimum of two years and be able to obtain a HR licence within 6 months of employment.
  • authorised examiner status with QLD Transport for legislative inspections (desirable)
  • forklift licence (desirable)
