Our Branch

The Construction Branch delivers an extensive range of high-quality specialist services in the areas of infrastructure, stormwater drainage, bridge maintenance, transport network technologies, trades and land remediation to the whole of Council and ratepayers.

The Role

Reporting to the Asset Intelligence Delivery Manager, this brand new Council role will expand an already essential Council function into a dedicated team led by the Building Condition Engineer. The Building Condition Engineer will be responsible for creating a portfolio of work focused on inspecting, assessing and reporting on the structural and operational condition of Council buildings and associated infrastructure. Over time you will create, lead and build a team to help deliver this vital function for Council assets.

In addition to inspections, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to plan, consult and deliver programs of work focused on remediation and repairs. Council’s building assets include a large number of buildings, community halls, sports clubs, aquatic centres and libraries to name a few. You will utilise your experience to work with a variety of stakeholders, lessees and service providers to provide strong customer service and support.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
  • demonstrated experience in detailed condition inspections and audits of buildings and infrastructure to accurately assess the structural and operational condition of assets
  • demonstrated experience in providing technical advice to internal stakeholders regarding building condition, maintenance strategies, and recommendations for repair and remedial activities
  • strong stakeholder management skills and experience with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders such as contractors, community and sport groups and internal council branches including executives
  • demonstrated experience and the ability to plan, monitor and manage projects ensuring delivery within compliance, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
  • mandatory: tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • mandatory: RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland)
  • mandatory: C-Class Driver License

This role will require a Criminal History Check and Working with Children’s Check (or the ability to obtain a Working with Children’s Check)
