Our Team  

The Library Operations team focuses on delivery of strategic outcomes of Library Services and Council to the community through the network of 33 branch libraries, Mobile Library, Relief Pool, and online, supported by friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Operational staff play a role in delivering services from all section areas within the branch - including maintaining collections, facilitating programs and events, marketing and outreach - in addition to ensuring the day-to-day upkeep and operation of the library.

The Role  

The Library Operations Manager strategically manages the operations of all regional library teams and ensures that Library Services respond to Council and community needs. This position forms part of the Branch Leadership Team and collaboratively makes decisions on Library Services resourcing (financial, asset and human resources), performance reporting, business planning and liaises with internal and external agencies and organisations to foster relationships and partnerships to achieve Library Services outcomes.

 To be successful you will have: 

  • demonstrated operational management experience (including budget, performance and productivity, and workforce planning) within a customer-focused and frontline business
  • extensive experience in managing people within a large organisation or complex environment
  • proven track record of successfully leading people through change and continuous improvement initiatives
  • demonstrated ability to provide expert advice, develop strategies and resolve complex issues
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare and present complex reports
  • a demonstrated understanding of the role of public libraries in both digital and physical environments.
