Location: Based at Green Square, Fortitude Valley, with potential on-site work requirements

City Projects Office (CPO) delivers Council’s projects and programs through effective project ownership, management, planning, and design. The Civil and Transport section of the Project Management Branch is responsible for managing the administration and delivery of major road upgrades, intersection upgrades, bikeways, minor schedules, district priorities, and flood recovery projects.

City Projects Office (CPO) is seeking a Project Engineer to manage the design and construction of road upgrade projects, ensuring their timely and cost-effective delivery. This role involves handling multiple civil transport infrastructure projects, with a focus on road safety, congestion, and accessibility improvements across Brisbane. You’ll collaborate closely with a Senior Project Manager and work with various internal and external stakeholders throughout the project phases. CPO is committed to best practices in planning and design, delivering innovative solutions that enhance Brisbane's lifestyle, while also offering a great work/life balance.

Some of your day-to-day duties include:

  • managing the design and construction of road infrastructure projects undertaken by CPO within agreed timeframes
  • contribute and assist in the development of Council’s future infrastructure program
  • reporting and recommending action of all time, cost, quality, and scope parameters associated with projects undertaken by CPO
  • develop, negotiate, and evaluate service level agreements, partnership charters, communication, and monitoring systems to support the delivery of program outcomes and outputs by internal and external providers. 

To be successful you will have:

  • ability in planning and design or construction of civil transport infrastructure capital projects, preferably in a public authority environment;
  • high-level skills in consultation, negotiation, networking, and advocacy
  • C class drivers' licence.

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or Registration as a Professional Engineer in Queensland or Chartered Status with Engineers Australia (or the ability to apply and gain RPEQ status within two months) is essential.
