Our Business  

City Standards provides high quality and value-for-money civil construction and maintenance services to Brisbane. The Construction Branch delivers a range of specialist services in the areas of civil infrastructure including storm water drainage and road upgrades, traffic network services, structures, trades and landfill remediation. We also provide traffic control services for construction projects. 

The Civil Infrastructure Services group within the branch, look after much of the construction and maintenance of Council's civil infrastructure, and includes all kerb and channel, concrete footpaths, bikeways, roads, open and enclosed drainage, Suburban Centre improvement projects, intersection upgrades and road corridor improvements. 

The Role  

Working in a team environment in this role you will be assisting in supervising and coordinating day labour activities to do with civil construction and maintenance. These include concrete footpaths, kerb and channel, gravel and asphalt road pavements, storm water gullies and manhole inlets and traffic and suburban centre improvements. Working outside of normal hours is a requirement of carrying out these works in some instances. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • a current Work Safely in the Construction Industry, White Card, along with civil construction experience 
  • the ability to respectfully liaise and negotiate with customers/stakeholders 
  • the ability to provide accurate advice on resource allocation and complete necessary reports within agreed deadlines 
  • demonstrated ability to interpret construction design drawings and relevant plans 
  • ability to coordinate team activities and liaise effectively with all team members including supervision of site contractors 
  • ability to problem solve and keep up to date with new technology 
  • a C class drivers’ licence as is desirable.
