Our Branch

The Strategic Procurement Office (SPO) sources and manages contracts and Council's procurement of goods, services and works in a way that delivers the best outcomes for Brisbane.

The Role

As the Subject Matter Expert for supplier information, processes and improvement the role is responsible for supporting, analysing and reporting on the development and performance of procurement strategies and processes within the supplier framework. You will proactively contribute to business improvement and optimise value for Council. The role requires a very good understanding and knowledge within the supplier process and system environment particularly as SPO prepares for the Modern ERP program. A good understanding of the role of master data within the procurement solutions will be an added advantage.

Your understanding of the end to end procurement processes is essential for this role and your attention to detail and capability to develop and share training resources and process improvement will be highly regarded.

You will work collaboratively with downstream and support partners, stakeholders, suppliers and all users of procurement functionality. There will be an emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality, troubleshooting, anticipating future needs with best practice strategies, and adhering to policy and governance guidelines. Technical knowledge of SAP Ariba and SAP ECC, is essential and relied upon when diagnosing and evaluating complex issues to provide solutions, working collaboratively within the experienced team.

Additionally, this role will perform testing and patching activities when required, support incident resolution, and prioritise system changes. It will manage the procurement incident queue within the Helix system by triaging, prioritising and assigning as appropriate to ensure efficient resolution.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • comprehensive experience in procurement and end to end processes
  • proven success in managing relationships internal and external to Council
  • demonstrated skills in diagnosis, analysis and evaluation of complex issues to problem solve in line with policy and best practice
  • demonstrated high level verbal, written and interpersonal skills to support responsive customer service
  • strong stakeholder management with the ability to manage a high volume of work.
