Salary Range: Band 5 $91,900-$104,172 + Superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: (Two positions) Temporary Full-time, Hybrid

Duration: Up to 12 months (Extension/s possible thereafter but not guaranteed)

Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance, and transport operations activities.

The Project Management branch in City Projects Office provides leadership and accountability in Project and Contract Management delivery.

Professional services include expertise in civil, transport, civic, building and natural environment infrastructure and assets. The branch is responsible for the overall delivery of projects and providing a diversity of services to assist asset owners.

The Role

Join the team as a Community Engagement Officer, where you'll be working to shape opportunities for community involvement on some of the city's infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll craft and implement strategies that inform and engage residents, businesses, and visitors, ensuring they’re part of the conversation. Expect to roll up your sleeves by assisting to develop communication materials, attending stakeholder meetings, and offering tailored advice on engagement activities. You'll also manage community relations, address concerns, and represent Council to external stakeholders. This is a chance to make a tangible impact on Brisbane’s future, all while working in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

  • assist to develop, implement, and assess community engagement strategies for Council projects, with increased responsibilities as you progress in the role
  • craft and manage communication materials, ensuring they meet Council’s standards
  • engage with diverse stakeholders, including residents and elected members, ensuring their voices are heard
  • monitor and address community concerns, managing risks proactively
  • represent Council at public and stakeholder meetings.

To be successful you will have:

  • strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various audiences
  • experience in developing and delivering community engagement strategies
  • the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • demonstrated experience in managing community concerns and proactively addressing issues
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
  • relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, or a related discipline are desirable.
