Development Services play a key role to facilitate Brisbane’s growth, so our picturesque, subtropical capital continues to offer quality of life for visitors and residents. Our branch is the destination for applications relating to development, including engineering and plumbing. We have an amazing multi-disciplinary team of dedicated, passionate, and service focused professional people who have our residents, building construction industry and communities at the heart of what they do.
The Role
In this role, you will lead a team of Development Support Officers and deliver priorities of the team through coaching, training, and monitoring of workloads. You will drive the team’s performance to deliver work of a high calibre, comply with relevant legislation, statutory timeframes and in accordance with Council policies. In addition, you will embrace the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Development Support Team Leaders to coordinate support service resources, facilitate staff rotations and contribute to the corporate correspondence function for Development Services.
To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council's Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
- ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence
- well-developed verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to influence, negotiate and maintain relationships to achieve acceptable outcomes
- demonstrated experience in completing high quality tasks accurately and on time and manage workload and workflows with competing priorities
- proven ability to develop and implement effective systems, processes, and procedures to provide high quality and timely support service
- demonstrated experience in/or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of and apply relevant legislation and Council policies and procedures
- demonstrated skills in the use of corporate systems and to assist and coach staff in the use of these systems
- demonstrated experience in communicating clearly in written and oral and demonstrated interpersonal skills
- experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders.
