Brisbane City Council is hiring! We have multiple vacancies for experienced and accredited Arboriculture Pruning Officers.
Situated within Brisbane Infrastructure, Public Space Operations Branch is a service delivery, customer focused and commercially driven business that prides itself on keeping Brisbane’s streets and public spaces clean, green and safe for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
At Brisbane City Council, our arboriculture teams provide maintenance to over 70,000 trees per year. As Arboriculture Pruning Officer, you’ll work within a small work team in a supportive environment, be provided with all the equipment, tools and personal protective equipment you’ll need to successfully contribute to team goals. You’ll apply your industry knowledge and experience to provide tree maintenance utilising horticultural/arboriculturally best practices and methodology.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- certificate III in Arboriculture and/or demonstrated experience in arboriculture
- sound interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to contribute effectively to the team environment
- understanding of Workplace Health and Safety and Code of Conduct guidelines
- ability to acquire a Medium Rigid (MR) Licence within three (3) months of commencing the role
- ability to acquire Intermediate Tree Felling qualifications within three (3) months of commencing the role
- sound knowledge and experience in operating a woodchipper machine
- accreditation – Chainsaw Fall Trees Manually (intermediate)
- accreditation – Level 1 Maintain Chainsaw and Trim and Cut Felled Small Trees.
While not mandatory, the following tickets/accreditations will be highly regarded for this role:
- Elevated Work Platform licence (EWP)
- Medium Rigid (MR) Vehicle licence
- Chipper Ticket
- Dogging licence
- Electrical Awareness for Non-electrical Worker’s licence (M31A)
- First Aid certificate
