Our Business

Transport Planning and Operations (TPO) are all about keeping Brisbane moving. We play a key role in the planning and management of Council's transport network and through the Transport Plan for Brisbane we strive to enable the safe, efficient, and sustainable movement of people and freight.

Our Team

Policy Strategy and Planning (PSP) provide strategic advice on a range of transport matters to support population and employment growth. We influence the development of Brisbane’s transport network to ensure the best possible outcomes for the city.

Our team liaises and works closely with transport agencies including the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Brisbane Airport Corporation, the Port of Brisbane and rail organisations to influence the development of Brisbane’s transport network.

The Role

This role supports the long-term strategic transport planning through leading streams of work with an innovative, collaborative, and customer-focused approach.

This role will develop, gather and provide strategic and technical advice to contribute to long-term planning for the future growth of Council’s multi-modal transport network.

You will collaborate with other businesses in Council as well as external organisations to deliver planning projects that contribute towards Council’s vision and the continued sustainable growth of Brisbane.

We are looking for a highly experienced officer who has a strategic and innovative mind set who can collaborate and engage at the highest levels internally and externally to influence a holistic and collaborative approach to future transport planning.   

In this role you will:

  • develop, lead and manage multi-disciplined transport planning projects
  • develop project scopes and undertake feasibility studies and options analysis
  • develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships and partnerships
  • provide proactive and timely advice and analysis on transport-related issues
  • assist in researching, writing, and editing correspondence, presentations and reports.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint
  • comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience in leading, co-ordinating and managing policy, strategy and concept development
  • excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, advocacy and negotiation skills
  • experience in project management and application of methodologies and software systems
  • high level analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills.
