About Us
Corporate Security identifies and effectively mitigates or manages, at an early stage, any developments that may threaten Council's resilience and its ability to deliver its services to the city of Brisbane. It is a corporate function that oversees and manages the coordination of all functions within Council that are concerned with physical security and safety.
The role of Corporate Security is to protect Council by providing proactive security risk management advice and support to all areas of Council. Our focus is towards community safety and physical security resilience and actively supporting the effective delivery of Council's Vision.
This is an exciting time to join the Corporate Security team who have recently upgraded the Security Operations Centre to enhance Council’s capability. This enhancement greatly improves Council’s ability to monitor and respond to security threats, helping to keep the public safe and our assets secure. By incorporating the latest technologies and efficient processes, the upgraded centre reinforces Council’s commitment to public safety.
About the Role
Take the lead in safeguarding our community as a Security Operations Centre Supervisor. You will oversee our state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre (SOC), supervise a team of 24/7 security operators, and ensure the timely management of incidents. You’ll coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services while ensuring compliance with security protocols.
This role is central in supporting Council’s assets and public spaces, playing a vital part in the delivery of our focus towards community safety and physical security resilience. To succeed in this role, you must thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and demonstrate strong strategic thinking in your decision-making.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- strong leadership skills with the ability to set direction, provide support and feedback
- ability to drive continuous improvement in security operations and team performance
- previous success in supervising a security control room or similar operational setting
- experience leading projects for the design and delivery of operational capabilities
- excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- a track record of achieving quality outcomes in high-pressure, service-sensitive environments with a focus on customer service.
Possession of or the ability to obtain a Security Advisor Licence is a mandatory requirement for this role.
