The Role

This role leads the knowledge, program development and implementation of strategies to protect Brisbane’s waterways and meet the current and future ecological, social and economic needs of the city.

In this role you will establish and foster key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of best practice waterway management that meets Brisbane’s and the region’s demand of healthy, clean, and sustainable waterways.

You will engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to influence and provide advice on a proactive and strategic program of work. You will also have the agility to provide reactive advice on emerging issues and to deal with changing needs as required.

 We are looking for a highly experienced program officer with superior knowledge in total water cycle management who can engage and work collaboratively with leading stakeholders in the water industry. In this role you will:

  • lead the development of high level strategy, science investigations, policy and projects
  • undertake concept development and issues identification to deliver effective options for improved water management
  • undertake benchmarking, research and analysis to build knowledge and organisational capacity to deliver
  • participate in the development, evaluation, negotiation of agreements
  • create and enhance partnerships and provide professional and strategic advice
  • lead, motivate and develop team members towards team, branch and organisational objectives.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint
  • extensive knowledge and proven experience in co-ordinating and managing, waterway, natural resource, science, strategy, and investigations
  • demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with experience in consultation, negotiation, networking, partnering, facilitation, and advocacy
  • proven experience and skills in stakeholder management
  • demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • proven success in the delivery of complex projects or programs.
