Salary Range: Band 5 $91,000.00 - $104,172.00 + Superannuation (Remuneration stated is for the full-time position) 

Work Type: Temporary, Full Time  

Duration: up to November 2025 (Extension/s thereafter but not guaranteed).

Our Business  

Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities. 

City Standards (CS) is dedicated to setting and achieving high quality maintenance standards for the City's civil and green assets, and maintaining a focus on the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane's growing community. Our Branch  

Waste and Resource Recovery Services branch provides efficient and effective waste management services to Brisbane residents and commercial customers while meeting legislated waste reduction targets. 

The Communication and Engagement team action initiatives to reduce Brisbane’s waste and increase resource recovery. This includes behaviour change programs and campaigns for a variety of program areas and includes community engagement and education activities, litter and food waste reduction programs, recycling and resource recovery projects. 

The Role  

Working as a key member of our passionate Behaviour Change Team within Waste and Resource Recovery Services includes educating, motivating and inspiring change in householders, schools, and community groups.  

This role will utilise your skills and experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, customer service and behaviour change. It would be desirable if you have a background in the resource recovery or sustainability sectors and confidence to develop and deliver presentations to varied groups, including community groups and school students. Tasks will include developing and delivering engagement and community waste behaviour change projects and programs. They will also involve contract administration, evaluating behaviour change programs, responding to customer queries, and managing events.The resource recovery sector is constantly evolving, and we are looking for a team member with flexibility, a desire to learn about circular economy and an eye for detail. In your application, please outline if you have experience working in government, communications, education or research. 

This role will be based at Council’s Regional Operations Centre, Eagle Farm. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • sound knowledge and demonstrated ability to create, deliver, monitor, evaluate and report on public awareness, education and behavioural changes programs and integrated solutions relating to waste management, resource recovery and waste minimisation 
  • sound ability to research, analyse and develop creative and innovative programs and initiatives 
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including the ability to provide expert advice, respond to written correspondence, influence and consult with a diverse range of groups and stakeholders 
  • a current C or CA class driver’s licence. 

Due to the requirements of this role a criminal history and a working with children check (Blue Card) will be undertaken on preferred applicants.
