Our Branch

The Governance Council and Committee Services branch provides excellence in administrative and strategic governance services to Council and external customers in an evolving environment.

The Policy and Compliance team within the Governance, Council and Committee Services ​​​​​​​branch, is responsible for the management of applications for access to documents made under the Right to Information Act 2009 and is also responsible for the management of applications for access to personal information made under Chapter 3 of the Information Privacy Act 2009. The team also plays a key role in ensuring Council complies with its legislative responsibilities around privacy as outlined in the Information Privacy Act 2009, including investigating alleged breaches of privacy.

The Role

Reporting to the Policy and Compliance Manager, this position will manage the administration of the Right to Information Act and the Information Privacy Act on behalf of Council, including planning, coordinating and implementing administrative and decision making arrangements required by these Acts. This lead role will build capability and knowledge across the organisation and will provide policy, strategic and operational advice in respect of the management, development and implementation of Council’s responsibilities under the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009. This position operates as a delegated decision maker.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
  • strong knowledge and proven experience of the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009, Council’s Local Laws and relevant Queensland guidelines and standards
  • strong research and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide accurate advice, interrogate records and analyse legislation and policies
  • experience in planning, prioritising, managing and reporting on workflows and important issues
  • high quality business improvement and knowledge management capabilities with success in enhancing and improving business systems, reporting, processes and procedures
  • strong interpersonal skills, communicating effectively and appropriately with various levels of stakeholders
  • proven ability to work effectively within a multi-functional team environment.

Degree level qualifications in Public Administration, Policy, Management or other relevant disciplines is desirable.
