Our Business and Branch

City Planning and Economic Development (CPED) is responsible for the strategic direction of the future planning and shaping of Brisbane through the delivery of urban and economic strategy, land use and infrastructure planning, urban design, heritage, public art and placemaking programs.

The Role

The Branch Support Officer reports to the Branch Management Coordinator in the General Managers office, providing direct support to the General Manager and CPED Branch Leadership Team. This role will coordinate business functions and track tasks and milestones, as well as providing executive assistance related to document management, and comprehensive diary and email management.

We are seeking an experienced candidate who is a self-starter, models behaviours in line with Council’s values, with a strong customer focus, representing the General Manager’s Office and assisting employees, and other key stakeholders.

Your agility, proactiveness and enthusiasm to get the job done, will contribute to the overall effective operation of the General Manager’s office.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated experience in extensive diary and calendar management in a fast paced, changing environment
  • experience supporting senior employees with efficient, high-quality support services, including handling sensitive, complex and confidential information
  • highly developed written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to prepare and edit letters, briefing notes, memoranda and minutes to a high standard, and to administer a document/file management and tracking system
  • outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills, customer focus, active listening, sound negotiation skills, and the ability communicate with executive and senior management across the branch, division, and Council
  • demonstrated ability to operate autonomously in a demanding and challenging work environment to effectively organise work tasks, with proven problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to research and compile information within tight deadlines
  • high level proficiency in commonly used computer systems and software.
