In CARS branch we supply services which help make Brisbane a fairer and safer place 24/7. Our focus is our Community Value, and we engage with people across the City in a consistent, responsive way, making strong decisions to resolve problems and deliver solutions. CARS is divided into five dynamic work areas, all working together to deliver compliance and provide the highest level of community value to Brisbane residents.
The Role
Managing a busy team conducting triage and dispatch of incoming customer reports, to field-based compliance officers, in this role you will be responsible to:
- lead, manage and coordinate CARS response activities to facilitate effective dispatch of resources including the prioritisation and allocation of work tasks and the providing advice on the operations and providing guidance to field teams
- day-to-day management of the CARS Operations Centre during business hours and during disaster events including the management of Compliance Related Information Technology systems and radio communications with multiple field officers
- work collaboratively with other CARS teams and disciplines to plan and coordinate resources to ensure broader business needs are being met
- maintain quality and consistent knowledge among the team regarding relevant legislation, policies, procedures, Council fees and charges. As well as the ability to provide authoritative advice to field staff on these subjects
- coach and lead performance through setting clear direction and expectations, providing support and feedback and monitoring ongoing performance of individuals and the team
- manage and coordinate CARS disaster management activities when required at times of emergencies and/or events.
To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated high level ability to prioritise workloads, complaints and projects to meet deadlines in a high pressure, time imperative and multi team environment
- excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills including the demonstrated ability to negotiate and liaise with internal and external individuals and organisations to achieve customer focussed outcomes in high pressure situations
- experience in leading individuals and teams in demanding and often complex situations such as disaster or emergency events
- demonstrated research, analytical and decision making abilities together with the proven capacity to interpret legislation, policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to operate, monitor, review and maintain relevant information technology and communications systems and liaise with system support officers on improvements and necessary system modification.
