Our Branch – 2032 Host City, Global Relations and Economic Partnerships (2032HCGREP)

The Global Relations team provide leadership, guidance and support for all international activities involving or undertaken on behalf of Brisbane City Council. We ensure Brisbane maximises, coordinates, and strategically drives the international opportunities available to the City of Brisbane.     

The 2032 Host City team collaborates across the organisation to plan and prepare for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We support the Lord Mayor and Chief Executive Officer in their leadership roles, work closely with internal and external stakeholders, Games Delivery Partners, and international organisations to optimise planning and delivery, ensuring the best possible outcomes for Brisbane.

The Economic Development team focuses on enhancing Brisbane’s capacity for long-term economic growth. We coordinate and implement projects designed to attract industry, investment, jobs and visitors.

As we continue to drive the city's development, significant internal growth opportunities are available within the Branch. These roles offer the chance to lead and execute initiatives that strengthen Brisbane's position as a premier global economic hub.

The Role

As Personal Assistant to the General Manager 2032HCGREP, you will play a pivotal role in managing a dynamic and complex diary, handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and preparing and coordinating high-level correspondence and documentation. You will provide proactive, exceptional administrative support to the General Manager 2032HCGREP and broader branch including, International Relations & Multicultural Affairs, Economic Development and 2032 Brisbane Host City and Strategic Partnerships.

As part of this role, you will be instrumental in supporting a range of high-profile programs, including but not limited to, Host City initiatives for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sister City and key global region related activities, business missions and delegations, Mayoral visits, the award-winning Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (APCS) as well as multicultural initiatives and events and Economic Development programs that strengthen Brisbane’s economy.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated experience supporting senior management, including managing complex diaries and handling sensitive, confidential information
  • exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and provide solutions
  • strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with high-level stakeholders and foster relationships with ease
  • proficient in diary and email management, ensuring efficient scheduling and prioritisation
  • ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, while maintaining a high attention to detail
  • a natural connector, able to build rapport and provide high-quality customer service
  • strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

The ideal candidate will operate with confidence, be agile and have the initiative to proactively plan ahead.

Proficiency in a language other than English from a key global region and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Calendar and Scheduling software, project management tools, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software are desirable, but not mandatory.
