Our Business

Transport for Brisbane (TfB) division operates and maintains one of the largest public transport fleets in Australia to deliver public transport services for the people living, working, and visiting the City of Brisbane. Through contracts with the State Government and private organisations we provide clean, convenient, and effective transport options on bus, CityCat, ferry, e-bike, e-scooter, and soon - Metro.

Our Branch

Strategy and Network Services branch support the division through the coordination and delivery of divisional specific Learning and Development (L&D) programs; support in Health, Safety and Environment compliance and initiatives; and implement business and process improvement measures.

The Role

The Learning and Development Manager leads TfB’s L&D team to design, deliver, and facilitate comprehensive learning and development services including eLearning, blended, and classroom learning. 

Leading a team of 26, with 5 direct reports you will contribute to the success of all learning related activities to ensure delivery is efficient, on time, and of the quality required to meet TfB’s learning and development business outcomes and strategic goals.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced L&D manager to lead our small dedicated team and to take responsibility for driving the overall learning and development strategy for our Transport Division.

You are an engaging leader with a track record of developing innovative learning strategies, enhancing training programs, and developing the skills and capability across a diverse team.

You are an inclusive, collaborative, and agile leader who provides leadership to L&D professionals and support staff while connecting with customers and leaders across a complex organisation.

In this role you will:

  • lead, mentor, and inspire a team of L&D professionals
  • develop and implement L&D strategies that are innovative and align with business and operational needs
  • support the design of training programs for drivers, maintainers, and support staff
  • collaborate with stakeholders to identify and create solutions to improve performance, productivity, and culture
  • use data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to make informed decision and improvements
  • monitor industry trends to introduce innovative learning practices. 

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence in leading professional teams
  • demonstrated experience undertaking learning needs analysis, instructional design, facilitating workshops and evaluating learning solutions
  • proven knowledge and experience leading best practice an innovative learning and development solutions
  • experience in strategic business and learning and development planning
  • demonstrated experience in the establishment and management of external supplier and contractor agreements
  • excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
