The rehabilitation and occupational health team plays an important role in driving the Zero Harm agenda across Council, and we are looking for a dedicated Rehabilitation Consultant to join our team in a part-time capacity (0.6 FTE; 3 days per week).

The role - what will you be doing?

As a Rehabilitation Consultant in Council, you will be responsible for the delivery of proactive case management and rehabilitation services to ill and injured Council employees across all divisions. Your workload could include cases relating to extended absence sick leave, recurrent absenteeism and workers compensation referrals.

You will play an integral part in managing Council's self-insurance licence, including management of workers compensation claims. This is a challenging and rewarding role which on a daily basis would see you performing the following:

  • face to face and over the phone customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • proactive case management and ensuring all documentation is current and complies with legislation and Council's rehabilitation procedures
  • managing conflicting priorities and delivering high-quality work within timeframes
  • monitoring, reviewing and identifying areas of improvement to processes and procedures.

To be successful you will have:

  • tertiary qualifications and equivalent experience in an allied health related discipline and rehabilitation
  • knowledge of Queensland Workers Compensation legislation
  • extensive practical experience in occupational rehabilitation case management practice
  • familiarity with self-insurance environments
  • highly developed oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
