About the Team
The Office of the Chief Executive Officer (OCEO) provides policy and Council-wide administrative and governance advice to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The OCEO deals with a very high volume of correspondence, sensitive and complex issues, works with numerous key stakeholders on organisational priorities and delivers strategic agendas for the CEO and the Executive Management Committee (EMC).
About the Role
The Executive Officer to the CEO is responsible for the provision of high-level professional support, management and policy advice to the CEO to assist them in the leadership, management and strategic direction setting for Brisbane City Council. This is a fabulous opportunity to work closely with the new CEO, EMC, and key stakeholders across all Divisions of Council.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will need:
- Strategic Thinking & Advisory: Proven ability to provide high-level professional advice to senior executives and contributing to strategic direction.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills with experience leading a high performing team and managing working relationships with senior leadership, internal and external stakeholders, and Government bodies.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Expertise: High-level analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and develop actionable recommendations.
- Communication & Negotiation Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (this role will at times represent the CEO in meetings, negotiations, and forums).
- Organisational & Project Management Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing systems, processes, and key projects, ensuring efficient operation and continuous improvement across an organisation.
- Discretion & Confidentiality: Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality when needed.
- Results-Oriented Approach: Strong focus on driving continuous improvement, performance excellence, and building a values-based, high-performance culture within the organisation.
