Salary: Band 7 AUD $123,340 - $134,848 per annum + superannuation (Remuneration stated is for a full-time position)

Work Type: Temporary Full-time

Duration: Up to 6 months (with possibility of further extensions)

Location: Fortitude Valley

 

About Us

Organisational Services division supports, equips and helps guide Brisbane City Council to deliver the Brisbane Vision through centralised corporate services and a customer-focused approach.

Within Organisational Services, the Support Services branch provides Council's key support services under a centralised model. Our efficient back-of-house support ensures more resources can be focused on Council’s front-line service delivery. Support Services provides an enormous range of support to all areas of Council. 

About the Role

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for risk management? We’re seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Senior Risk and Assurance Officer to lead risk management initiatives across the Support Services branch, ensuring business operations meet applicable standards and legislation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • taking charge of managing and implementing risk management strategies and systems to ensure effective risk mitigation across various functions and teams
  • conducting regular audits to assess and address risks, while maintaining a system to track and follow up on audit recommendations
  • partnering with leadership to provide advice, training, and support, ensuring that all risks are identified and effectively managed
  • playing a key role in developing and coordinating business continuity and emergency plans to ensure the smooth operation of services during disruptions
  • ensuring compliance with confidentiality and information security policies.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • proven experience in delivering risk management programmes and ensuring compliance
  • excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues confidentially
  • experience in developing and managing business continuity and emergency plans
  • strong skills in analysing complex risks and presenting practical solutions
  • excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
