Our Business

Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.

Our Branch

Waste and Resource Recovery Services (WaRRS) branch delivers waste management, resource recovery, litter prevention and waste minimisation initiatives for Brisbane residents.

WaRRS manages contracts for waste and recycling bin collection, waste disposal, green waste and dead animal collection. They work towards a cleaner Brisbane by discouraging littering and installing public place recycling and litter bins to keep our streets clean. They also help to build a cleaner, greener city by encouraging waste minimisation and recycling through a range of education initiatives and community involvement.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to administer, update and continuously improve processes within the WaRRS business and be an interface between information technology tools and services with WaRRS operations.

To enable you to do this, you will need good project management skills, the ability to build solid professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and you will need to be highly analytical with proven problem-solving skills including using common tools to analyse waste and other performance data.

As our Waste Business Improvement and Process Coordinator, and reporting to the WaRRS Business Delivery and Strategy Manager, this role will see you:

  • delivering the highest standards of service to our customers
  • giving and receiving regular feedback to enable performance to be improved
  • acting as a key contact on a day to day basis for all process and software management issues for WaRRS
  • coordinating and reviewing changes to process, information and technology that impact the WaRRS business
  • conducting reviews, audits and reporting on WaRRS process practices
  • coaching and supporting and sharing knowledge about system functionality, technology, process and information practices within the WaRSS operational areas
  • liaising and sharing knowledge about WaRRS processes, information and business operations with other process areas, corporate support and broader Council.

To be successful you will have:

  • ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback
  • demonstrated analytical, problem solving and investigative skills
  • demonstrated experience in the design, development and implementation of waste specific information technology upgrades and replacements
  • demonstrated understanding of Council’s waste and recovery services business needs, Business Process and Information Management principles to perform process design and audit
  • the ability to plan, manage and monitor business improvement activities
  • high level interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
  • well-developed organisational skills.
