Salary Range: Band 6 $108,005 - $119,507 + superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary Full-Time

Duration: Up to 14 November 2025, extension/s thereafter but not guaranteed.

Our Business

The Waste and Resource Recovery Services branch within the Brisbane Infrastructure division provides efficient and effective waste management services to Brisbane residents and commercial customers while meeting legislated waste reduction targets.

The Communication and Engagement team action initiatives to reduce Brisbane’s waste and increase resource recovery. This includes marketing campaigns for a variety of program areas and includes community engagement and education activities, litter and food waste reduction programs, recycling and resource recovery projects.

The Role

As the Senior Communications Officer you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to effectively deliver a wide variety of communication activities across all aspects of strategic communication planning and campaigns including production, execution and evaluation. You will work collaboratively across other branch functions within Council including City Communication.

You will have demonstrated skills in managing a variety of communication projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, reporting and corporate priorities are achieved.

We are seeking a motivated and confident marketing and communications specialist who can use their initiative and hit the ground running to deliver successful communication outcomes. This role will see you work as part of a supportive team, being constantly challenged and exposed to a wide variety of tasks.

Please note, this role is based at the Regional Operations Centre located on Tradecoast Drive in Eagle Farm. 

Further requirements of this role include:

  • thorough knowledge of current communication and marketing issues and trends
  • ability to provide specialist advice and assistance in the design and development of marketing and communication activities
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • exceptional stakeholder management skills
  • tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in marketing and communication or significant experience in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded.
