Salary Range: Band 5 ($91,900 - $104,172) (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary Full-time

The Role

Brisbane City Council is seeking a Program Officer – Community Initiatives to support the achievement of our environmental and sustainability targets by coordinating community grant programs and other initiatives.

In this role, you will assist in the development and delivery of grants, foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and provide expert advice on environmental sustainability programs.

You will work collaboratively with your team, ensuring projects meet performance standards, timelines, and budgets. Your responsibilities will also include program evaluation, innovation in delivery, and reporting, all while ensuring alignment with environmental legislation and policies. A strong focus on customer service and a passion for environmental sustainability will be key to success in this position.

To be successful you will have:

  • experience in managing community incentives programs, grants programs or similar initiatives
  • demonstrated project management skills including costing, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, prioritisation, organisational, financial and time management   
  • knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, policy and technical issues related to delivering environmental grants programs targeting individuals and community groups
  • proven success in building and maintaining relationships, partnering, networking, making decisions and motivating others towards the achievement of key work priorities
  • experience in negotiation and consultation with well-developed interpersonal skills and high quality written and oral communications
  • ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence
  • a tertiary qualification or experience in environmental education, community development, environmental science or similar appropriate discipline would be highly regarded.
